At this moment, the Mets are 16 – 10 and have the reigning NL Player of the Month (Jose Reyes) and Pitcher of the Month (John Maine). Somehow, I don’t feel as confident as I should about the team and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because those ten losses have been far worse than the sixteen wins have been good (that’s the best I can phrase it this morning)?
In reality, it’s probably because the Braves look so strong so far (and that the Mets are 2 – 4 against the Braves too). Even though standings are meaningless at this point in the year I’d still like to see a bit of distance between the Mets and Braves.
However, I will say something positive – I’ve been really impressed with a few Mets so far – Reyes looks like he can do anything, Maine has been dominant, and Glavine has looked so solid. I’m even more impressed with Moises Alou, Shawn Green (who looked like he was on his way out on opening day), Oliver Perez (please, god of baseball, don’t let me jinx him), and Joe Smith out of the bullpen.
I’ll just feel a lot better if the Mets can sweep a big series this month – either at home against the Yankees or on the road against Atlanta.

In order to divert attention away from my lack of stuff here, I pose this question: is there a song in the Boston catalog that’s better than “Foreplay / Long Time”? If you say “More than a Feeling” you better bring a solid argument.
Here’s a list that I’ll share with you without comment. (Found via Pop Candy and I’m sure it will turn up elsewhere as well). Rolling Stone’s 25 [Presumably "Most"] Underappreciated Artists. OK, I will say this – some of those bands are terrific and deserve more appreciation but a lot of them are legendary (especially Tom Waits and Sonic Youth) in certain circles (read: critics).
Also, it’s come to my attention that VH-1 Classic’s The Alternative is now going by the title VH-1 Classic’s 120 Minutes. Granted I’m told that the content is still the same (late ’80s, early ’90s alternative rock videos) but this could develop into something. I’d love to see old interviews and (especially) old performances from the show. I’ll have to keep my eyes open (and hopefully it will air at times other than 4:00 am – 6:00 am Sunday mornings!).
I’m not really sure how this affects my decision to potentially rename my WQAQ show “120 Minutes” in the fall. I think if I get assigned to an appropriate time slot (Sunday nights) I’ll still do it.
