Thursday, June 22, 2006Radiohead is such a ubiquitous band (at least in certain circles) that it’s hard to get an unbiased look at the band itself. Critics (professional critics and amateur critics /fans alike) bring a sort of agenda to the band’s new material; most often, this is done by favoring a certain era of the band’s catalogue – the guitar days of The Bends and OK Computer or the blips from the later albums.
This is why a recent New Yorker article on the band is so interesting. The author (claims) to have had little prior knowledge of the band and comes to some interesting conclusions about the band’s aesthetic.
